"What inspired Johanna Grace?" we are frequently asked. Our response: walk the streets of Saratoga Springs, New York. You'll find a city revitalizing itself by embracing the beautiful architecture of its past and building upon the great American traditions of community, craftsmanship, and caring.
We hope our values are expressed in our clothes for children. We believe in things that last. All that is worthwhile endures, including style. Our dresses for children are elegant because they are simple. We've absorbed the influences of the 19th and 20th century's greatest couturiers to produce clothing that will be as prized and admired today as they would have been a generation ago, and will be a generation hence.
We believe that a child who learns early to love beautiful things will grow up to become an adult who will appreciate all forms of beauty. A child's personality develops as her tastes are formed. With every dress we make, we discover a new expression of beauty. Thus our dresses vary in mood and temperament, just as your child does.
But beauty and character are constants. We believe that a beautiful product is necessarily a well-made and well-designed product. We believe that we owe it to each other to give to others only our best. We believe that craftsmanship should be a source of pride.
Each and every Johanna Grace dress is custom-made to your child's measurements, by one couturiere, from start to finish. We use the finest, old-fashioned couture sewing techniques, with details done by hand, from bows to hand rolled roses. We start with the essentials: lovely silk Duppione, shantung and organza, silk tartans, vintage cotton prints and chintzes, breezy linens, old-fashioned cotton eyelets and embroidered Swiss dot, all accented with exquisite, carefully chosen trimmings, reflecting a timeless sensibility. Our designers have a quarter century experience in designing and making couture clothing. We bring this experience to bear in our collection, which we cordially invite you to inspect! |
